This can be seen, among other things, in the numerous artistically designed walls in the building as well as the striking green entrance portal, which resembles a dragon. Now Viennabase is providing a facade for the Kaiserschild Walls of Vision project of the Kaiserschild Foundation. As part of the project, paintings from the foundation's art collection are reinterpreted by street artists in a new and contemporary way. A classic painting was chosen for Viennabase that couldn't be more fitting, as it is reminiscent of the colourful life in a student dormitory. The artists Linda Steiner and Perkup are working together on one wall for the first time.

The source work for the nine-interpretation is "Bauernschenke" by the Dutch master David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690), the most important representative of the Flemish peasant genre. Typical settings of this genre are barns and taverns. They will also be inspired by the wall on which the artwork will be created. The side facade of the Viennabase building in the 19th district is characterised by a modern and unusual structure.

Paul Riedmüller aka Perkup, comes from Graz, lives and works in Vienna. Through Perkup's dense and humorous approach, as well as his way of balancing between the facets of different media and their boundaries, one can recognise the familiar in an unfamiliar way.

The two artists* will work on the facade design at Gymnasiumstraße 85, 1190 Vienna between 26 June and 2 July.

The project is being realised in cooperation with Calle Libre.

The promotion of art and culture has a long tradition at Viennbase19.
